This position pays in the $60,000-$75,000 range with the top pay reserved for those whose education and experience exceed the posted qualifications.

The Staff Accountant will perform the monthly financial close and reporting process. Supports all aspects of the monthly financial close, GL responsibilities, and assists with reporting requirements, including the corporate audit. Prepares account analysis for management and codes expenses to correct GL accounts. Assists with budgeting and analysis as assigned.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reviewing general ledger accounts and preparing and adjusting journal entries
Processing accounts payable and accounts receivables
Performing account analysis and reconciliation, including bank statements and intercompany general ledger accounts
Maintaining general ledger charts of accounts
Assisting with initial internal control evaluations
Posting monthly, quarterly and yearly accruals
Perform financial analyses to support all departments and lines of business
Use Microsoft Excel to assist department directors to better understand and track department performance
Daily balancing to bank statement; lockbox batches; entry to the control card
Cash receipt processing of check deposits
Monthly balancing of cash receipts and entries for bank reconciliation
W9, 1099 and 1042s reporting and distributing
Analyze financial data to assess accuracy and completeness.
Generate and interpret financial reports for management.
Prepare account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
Work with cross-functional organizations to accomplish tasks.
Backup other department personnel as needed, in particular during planned and unplanned absences.
Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge:
Knowledge of GAAP, higher-level accounting principles, practices, and the ability to apply such knowledge to community organization processes.
Knowledge of preferred internal accounting controls and appropriate systems for non-profits.
Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Desire and ability to operate as a team player both on core team and across the organization.
Organized, detail oriented, ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes.
Problem solving and analytical skills which can be used to take initiative, provide superior customer service, and meet objectives of the department and the organization.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree accounting, finance, or business administration.
Five or more years’ experience as an accountant
Extensive Microsoft Excel background and experience
PREFERED:
Experience as an accountant for a nonprofit organization
Experience in one or more of the following:
iMIS or Altai AMS systems
Microsoft Dynamics GP
Sage Intacct
PN3 Accounts Payable System
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Attends ACSM meetings as required
Maintains current license, certification, or registration as applicable
Follows dress code policy
