The Marketing and Communications Director plans and implements the association’s entire marketing, branding, and communications strategy to advance the mission of the organization and its members, as well as increase the visibility and significance of home care among members and the public.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and execute HCAOA’s marketing and communications strategy to support overall association awareness and growth. Maintain a strong and distinctive brand voice for all public relations, marketing, advertising, advocacy, and communications outreach.
Draft, propose, and implement marketing campaigns for HCAOA’s national conference and state chapter events and conferences to optimize participation, as well as membership development, educational offerings, policy and advocacy initiatives and other association priorities; campaigns may include email, social media, direct outreach, presentations, and other communications channels.
Monitor industry news sources and develop content, write, design, and distribute The Home Care Insider, HCAOA’s weekly e-newsletter.
Manage website content, including writing, editing, and updating content; work independently and with website host to implement website requests; monitor and report site analytics. Manage the association’s new online community for member engagement and exclusive content.
Develop and implement strategies to expand HCAOA’s presence and thought leadership through publications, articles, and partnerships with external stakeholders.
Establish and maintain relationships with media, pitch stories and track coverage.
Write and distribute news releases on HCAOA actions and positions as appropriate.
Direct and produce all graphic materials. Develop and implement social media strategy; handle day-to-day posting and monitoring of social media activities; analyze results and produce reports.
Manage relationships, workflow, quality control, and budgets for communications vendors, including graphic designers, website developer/host, printers, and others.
Organize and maintain a repository of digital assets, including photos, images, and graphic templates.
Maintain a detailed understanding of HCAOA’s membership priorities, demographics, and needs related to ensure communication strategies are consistent with their ongoing needs.

Location
This position is remote. The association is based in Washington, DC, with chapters located throughout the U.S. Some travel is required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Flexible and highly adaptable to take on new or changing priorities
Ability to problem-solve, think creatively and strategically, meet deadlines, budgets, and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
Strong writing skills, organization skills, attention to detail, proofreading and editing skills, basic graphic design experience
Proficient with Canva or other graphic design resource
Knowledge of web content management systems (Memberclicks or equivalent CMS) and/or association management solution preferred
Education and Experience:
10+ years of progressive experience working in marketing and communications, preferably in an association or healthcare organization
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in marketing, communications, business, or healthcare; master’s in business, marketing, or communications a plus
