National Park Foundation is committed to leveraging data to drive strategic decisions and foster innovation. This is a newly created function for which we are seeking a highly skilled Data Program Administrator to lead this initiative and build a data-driven culture within the organization.

Position Overview:

The Data Program Administrator will be responsible for establishing and managing a new data department as well as providing data-related services as the department is constructed. This role involves developing data governance strategies, implementing data management systems, finding ways to utilize AI technologies in NPF solutions, and ensuring the organization effectively utilizes data assets. The successful candidate will have a strong background in data management, technical skills, project leadership, and a strategic mindset to drive the data vision for the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Department Creation and Leadership
  1. Following direction of VP of IT, develop and execute a comprehensive plan to establish the new Data Department, including staffing, processes, and technology requirements.
  2. Establish cooperative and collaborative relationships with NPF department heads and current application administrators who have some data responsibilities.  
• Data Strategy and Governance
  1. Create and implement data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, privacy, and security across the organization.
  2. Develop data policies and standards that align with organizational goals and industry best practices.
  3. Ability to manage AI projects in tandem with data administration efforts.
• Data Management and Infrastructure
  1. Oversee the selection and implementation of data management systems, tools, and technologies.
  2. Ensure effective integration of data sources and maintain a centralized data repository.
• Project Management
  1. Lead data-related projects from conception through execution, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align data initiatives with organizational objectives.
• Data Analysis and Reporting
  1. Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to support decision-making processes.
  2. Provide insights and recommendations based on data analysis to drive business improvements.
• Training and Development
  1. Collaborate and tutor existing application administrators that are engaged in data reporting projects and tasks.
  2. Design and deliver training programs to enhance data literacy and capabilities across the organization.
  3. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, incorporating them into data strategies as appropriate.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field and 7 years of experience.
• Proven experience in data management, program administration, or a similar role, with a track record of building and/or leading data teams.
• Strong understanding of data governance, data quality management, and data privacy regulations.
• Experience with data management tools, databases, and data visualization software (e.g., SQL, Power BI, AWS, Azure, Building & maintaining Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, etc.).
• Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Creating or leading a similar data analysis environment in work history.
• Proven familiarization with Azure and AWS environments.
• Certification in data management or project management (e.g., CDMP, PMP) is a plus.
• Experience in donor-specific data analysis is also a plus.
