Excellent Opportunity for Experienced Nonprofit Executive Director
Association Acumen, LLC has an exciting opportunity available for a seasoned Executive Director to lead a dynamic nonprofit organization. The successful applicant should have a minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Executive Director, leading boards, developing strategy, and overseeing overall operations. Should have exceptional leadership and supervisory abilities and possess creative, flexible, and sound analytical skills while handling multiple priorities. Should have demonstrated experience providing financial management and budgetary oversight to nonprofit boards. Four to five weeks travel annually. No out of state resumes please. Salary dependent upon relevant experience.
Essential Job Functions
- Leadership: Provides visionary leadership for the association and demonstrates the ability to handle multiple responsibilities in directing the operations of the association in accordance with the bylaws, mission statement, strategic plan, and policies and procedures established by the association. Works with the board to ensure the strategic plan is up to date. Coordinates annual elections to ensure successful succession and leadership pipeline. Provides leadership of staff team, implements and manages timeline for all aspects of management, suggests best practices, manages two to three direct reports with quarterly and annual performance reviews.
- Financial Management: Works with leadership to draft an annual budget, provide financial projections to steer organizational decision making, identifies financial deviation from budget and works with leadership to adjust strategies and spending. Works with accounting team to manage financial statement audit on an annual basis and provides tax return information and documentation for unrelated business income, in-kind sponsorships and other items, as needed.
- Operations: Responsible for the effective operation of the association, advising and making recommendations to the board, ensuring the policies adopted by the board are fulfilled. Provides consultation to the president and board regarding fiscal, legal, and contractual responsibilities. Works to develop opportunities for generating revenue streams. Attends all board and executive committee meetings, prepares agendas and drafts minutes. Monitors and ensures a high level of customer service.
- Membership: Oversees efforts to increase and retain membership base, manages membership recruitment and retention plans.
- Education: Oversees efforts to offer high-quality educational programming, both live and online.
- Awards: Oversees awards program, including nominations, award selection, and publicity.
- Elections: Oversees election process and adherence to bylaws.
- Conference and Meetings Management: Oversees all conference and online training educational efforts and meetings management, and participation at meetings of related organizations. This includes facilitating leader involvement at the annual conference and attendance at approximately three to four other conferences to exhibit and solicit sponsorship and membership.
- Communications and Publication Coordination: Oversees the creation of editorial timelines and content management targeting appropriate audiences with dynamic marketing campaigns. Supervises the creation of all public relations activities. Manages the development of appropriate website content and design. Acts as association spokesperson, as needed.
- Sponsorship: Responsible for securing and growing sponsorship revenue for the association, coordinating logistics and deliverables to sponsors.
- Database and Website Management: Oversees creation and maintenance of databases.
- Any other duties or projects as requested. Four to five weeks travel required annually. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
